Missing persons updates

After a long period of political upheaval and uncertainty the Nepalese trekking & tourism industry hopes to regain an image of being a top class destination for adventure trekking and cultural sight seeing tours. In recent history almost a dozen unsolved missing cases of foreign trekkers accumulated in Nepal. This is an alarming sign and definitely much more has to be done by the Nepalese authorities to assure sound security and safety measures along the trekking routes and in terms of assistance if a hiker is reported missing. Let us hope that the authorities will learn from these disturbing cases.

SAR DOGS NEPAL evolved out of the in 1989 established Himalaya Rescue Dog Squad Nepal (HRDSN). SAR DOGS NEPAL keeps the records of missing foreign trekkers from the archives of HRDSN since 1991. If anyone wishes to enquire about a particulare case from 1990 onward, we will provide these data free of charge to genuine friends and relatives. Some cases are not included in our files as per the wishes for privacy protection of some victims families. You can send your requests from our CONTACT page.
