There is a shortage of everything: food, shelter, medical personnel and care. Many people are still unaccounted for under collapsed houses and under landslides. We had been promised a helicopter to shuttle our SAR teams into that area, in order to set up a camp that distributes our relief materials, food supply and medicine for over 3000 homeless people. More than half of the homeless people are under-aged and young children. They need makeshift shelters, blankets, food and medical care.
Alas the promised helicopter never came. Actually we had our doubts about that anyway. All helicopters were needed to evacuate wounded people from all over Nepal to the nearest regional hospital. We expected this out of experience with 5 other past flood relief camps in the lower and eastern part of Nepal. Camps that we have hold successfully over the past decades in Rauthahat, Dharampur, Sindhuli, Salarhi and Bhojpur.
You can see what we have in store now for our relief camp by following our updates regularly. This is only the beginning!
