Nagin Thada (known by his friends as Nagendra) has developed a large number of valuable skills during his long service time that stretches over 21 years in our 25 years old SAR workers community
Previously he worked as a staff cook & logistic officer in our Disaster Relief Camps that we conducted between 1992 and 1995 under the umbrella of HMG Ministry of Health mainly in the Terai region and in East Nepal.
Under instruction from a number of German Mountain-Climbers and Volunteer Vets Nagin became a rock- climbing instructor, a SAR Dog trainer and a veterinary aide de camp for dogs diseases and traumata during the mid Nineties.
He has a long record as a Search and Rescue Mission Leader and Senior SAR dog Squad Leader in our previous organization Himalaya Rescue Dog Squad Nepal (HRDSN)
Once he was just a simple farmer's son in the remote village of Chungmang / Lisumbu in east Nepal.
After his father died Nagin came to Kathmandu right after the Revolution of 1991 in search for a job to support his widowed mother and very large family of six brothers and two sisters. Nagin is the second youngest child in the family and is now 42 years old.
His mother died last year during the Dasain Festival after a long and hard life as a Farmers widow.
In spring 1992 Nagin heard from a fellow villager that his old school friend and class mate Jit Bahadur Masrangi Magar had already a job as mountain guide with our training center in Sundarijal at the northern rim of the valley. It was the right time for Nagin to come and ask for a similar job.
The Himalaya Rescue Dog Training Center at Sundarijal, that worked under the Umbrella of the then HMG of Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs Special Disaster Unit (SDU), was just expanding and recruiting more SAR dog handler's students under instruction of a Dutch SAR Dog trainer.
Nagin is married to Devi Maya Jargha Magar, who is an English Teacher in Dhankuta - East Nepal. He has a 13 years old son with the name of Jalan. (updated 2014)
