Astrid Teichert missing Nepali English PosterDear all,
Astrid was found on Monday, December 1st, 2025. She fell from a cliff and did not survive.
We at SARDOGS Nepal were ready to search for her with our Search & Rescue Dogs, but it was too late. We were in close contact with her friend from Germany and all of us hoped that she was still alive.
After receiving the message that a group of locals found her, we had to inform her friend. However, it was the duty of the German Embassy to inform the family.
We share in the grief and sadness of her friends and her family. We did not know her personally, but during our search preparations, we learned about her friendliness, her enthusiasm for the beauty of Nepal, and how much she enjoyed her journey.
We must thank the locals who checked the old, dangerous path from Dobato to Khopra Danda. We also thank the German Embassy for their professional work, the team of police officers, and all others who were involved in this search mission.
May Astrid rest in peace.

thorung la passThe Thorung La is one of the highest trekking passes in the world with an elevation of 5,416 meters (17,769 ft) above sea level  in central Nepal. The pass is located on a trail which connects the village of Manang to the east, with the temple of Muktinath in the Mustang District  to the west. Thorung La Pass is the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit, a 300 km (190 miles) route around the Annapurna mountain range. Wherever in Nepal you wish to trek, don't do this alone. A pass like this one can be the game changer of your adventure trek and the weather up there is unforgiving.

Our SAR teams and dogs are fully equipped to work under the harsh conditions of high altitude landscapes in the unforgiving Mountain Ranges of the Himalayas. They have been trained and certified by European standard search and rescue examiners from Germany.

If you believe that assistance from our Search and Rescue Dog teams may be required to trace a missing person in the wilderness or in an avalanche, do not hesitate for too long!
The earlier our SAR Dog teams arrive in the target area , the better are the chances to find lost persons alive!

Thanks to the modern clicker training technique (only reward, no punishment) our SAR Dogs have developed remarkable skills, such as walking up narrow ladders and over makeshift bridges  without fear.
