Debbie Maveau RIP

Reported missing since June 5, 2012 in the Langtang National Park, Debbie Maveau (23) was found dead on June 14 in a forest in the Rasuwa district. The Belgian woman had entered the area on May 31, planning to trek in the Gosainkunda area for six days.

Following an aerial search her decapitated body was found at Deurali, Syafru VDC, some 50 meters below the famous hiking trail. The aerial search was conducted after local villagers informed the police about the possibility of finding Maveau's body in the forest.

Police said they are investigating the case. There was a brief news report that her left hand was also missing and had not been found but up to date no report has been released about the true cause of her death.

Debbie Maveau was the second woman who went missing in Langtang area while hiking. US citizen Aubrey Caroline Sacco also went missing while trekking in the area in 2010. Nepal police is yet to find the whereabouts of Sacco.
