October 14, 2014 a rare fall blizzard hit the Annapurna circuit area which lasted for two days. Because fall marks one of the busiest trekking seasons in Nepal, many unsuspecting foreign trekkers and their local porters got lost. Although many were found alive, an almost equal number of trekkers vanished in landslides and avalanches.
Retrieving all the missing corpses was a challenging task that took in some cases more than seven months. There was a pause in the search during the long winter. Arctic temperatures created a thick layer of frozen snow and gravel that made retrieving the last corpse of a Canadian woman a challenging task.
Nepal avalanche survivors may have to wait days
